******************************************************************************** By: Dave Albert Date: Started 2017-08-08 Title: Focus ******************************************************************************** I find deep focus helps to move my work forward faster. A simple tool I use for that is the following shell function. I use something like the pomodoro technique where you work without interruption for 25 minutes then take a break for a couple minutes That's when I write these things ;). I also set my Mac to "Do Not Disturb" mode, you can set this by scrolling up in the notification tray (top right of screen) using the toggle button. ~ $ type -f focus function focus { clear cat ~/focus.txt input="x" if [[ "x$1" == "x" ]] then TIME=1500 else TIME=$(( $1 * 60 )) fi for I in {1..$TIME} do if [[ $input != "x" ]] then clear cat ~/focus.txt echo $I of $TIME input="x" fi read -t 1 input #Any input will display status done say aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa say times up. take a minute. ree focus. } ~ $ cat ~/focus.txt _______ _______ _______ _______ ( ____ \( ___ )( ____ \|\ /|( ____ \ | ( \/| ( ) || ( \/| ) ( || ( \/ | (__ | | | || | | | | || (_____ | __) | | | || | | | | |(_____ ) | ( | | | || | | | | | ) | | ) | (___) || (____/\| (___) |/\____) | |/ (_______)(_______/(_______)\_______) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Dave dave (dot) albert (at) gmail (dot) com [twitter] @dave_albert ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
